A Ride With Nige Winter 2006
Winter Warmer.

It looks like we have a mixed bag of weather after all the gales and torrential rain, however, the Trail surface is surprisingly firm though still puddle strewn. The trees of course are now completely bare of leaves but the bonus is the wonderful views of the Estuary and River often obstructed by foliage in the Summer - this especially applies if you are interested in the abundance of Winter birdlife.

The majority of the Kingfishers have now moved downriver so it is not at all unusual to catch a glimpse of a flash of blue between the Town Quay and the first cutting - you might even be very lucky and spot one fishing waterside.

Upriver the work on the floodplains has now been completed so this section of the Trail is recovering well and is not quite so muddy. Riverside if you were to just kick the leaves away there is the first signs of primroses fooled into showing themselves by the unseasonably mild weather.

That said with Christmas fast coming up could we take this opportunity to wish all our customers Seasons Greetings and we look forward maybe to sharing a "winter warmer" by a roaring fire in a local hostelry after an exhilarating ride down the Camel Trail.
