Golf

There are more golf courses in Cornwall, per head of population than any other County in the UK. That's over thirty courses ranging from championship level downwards. If you combined them into one, the course would stretch for over 105 miles, put this against the fact that Cornwall is only about 75 miles long and 20 miles across the middle and you might wonder where you will you park the car.

If we imagined (or dreamed of) this mythical combined course we would find almost every type of feature known to the golfer. Natural links, Nicklaus designed modern courses, reputedly one of the biggest bunkers in the world, parkland, cliff-top locations, woodland and much more. There are challenges which will ruin or make your day, courses to stroll round, beginners' and experts' levels alike. You name and it is likely that Cornwall has it here for you.

There are courses which will only allow you to play with a handicap certificate, some which require a knowledge of etiquette and some which are open to families and beginners. You can practise on numerous driving ranges and practise courses, stay out on the course from dawn to dusk or stop for lunch and refreshment after the first nine. For the seriously fanatical there is the likelihood that whatever the weather conditions in the UK there will be a course playable in Cornwall. This is because of a combination of nature and mankind's endeavors. Newer courses have been designed to drain well, links courses will drain naturally and frost is dismissed by the presence of the Atlantic which carries the warming Gulf Stream close to our extensive coastline.
